FAQ

Do you have any Purple Honey for sale?

YES! We just harvested some purple honey in September 2017 and have a very limited quantity available. You can purchase our Purple Honey on eBay by clicking this link.

Why do you call it a “farm”?

We use the term “farm” very lightly – hyperbolically, even. This is also how we address most things on our property. For example, the cluster of three, barely alive lemon trees is our “citrus grove;” the two bee hives comprise our “apiary;” the small shed we purchased from Lowe’s that holds garden tools is “the barn;” the chicken coop is the “Coop Mahal,” and the fire pit/seating area is a “cocktail lounge,” “courtyard” and occasionally even a “bistro.” These exaggerated terms exemplify the pride we take in the work we’ve put forth into creating them. We hope you will feel the same about your own green endeavors.

Are you a dirty-hippy-tree-hugger?

Probably. But we shower. We think it is increasingly important to become stewards of the earth; working with it in a mutually beneficial relationship, rather than against it for monetary gain. Try it. You might like it. Life is about balance. Find what works for you. Maybe you don’t raise chickens or keep bees, but perhaps you plant a few herbs, purchase more from the local farmer’s market and make an increased effort to recycle. We think that’s great!

Did you always want to do this?

No. Not at all. In fact, we had never talked about it, or even thought about it before it came about organically. When we got married in 2010, neither of us would have ever guessed over the course of 2 years we would develop an urban farm. First there were dead herbs in a pot, then a garden… some other details you’re sure to read about eventually… and now all this. It’s been an incredible journey of teamwork and compassion – for each other and for Mother Nature.

  2. i am interested in “growing” bees next year. i so like the way that you approach everything at your place. i recently moved to siler city, in chatham county. i would like to emulate your attitude toward nature. put me on your list! and do you have or know where i can get some purple honey?

    • Hello Susan and welcome to the area! Thank you so much for the compliment. It can be a lot of work, but we take great joy in our little “farm.” We have both found beekeeping so rewarding and I am certain you will too. Please don’t hesitate to ask of you have any specific questions; we are happy to help. Sadly we did not get any purple honey this season and are sold out of last season’s. Due to the nature and rarity of purple honey we are unsure when or if we will see purple honey again. You’re welcome to keep checking in with us here or on our Facebook for updates!
